Looking Forward to 2009

by Stuart Lander

I started this blog only 2 months ago but in a short space of time I’ve been amazed by the traffic that it has generated and the number of subscribers that have signed up to receive updates. In uncertain economic times, business owners are looking for new ways of winning contracts. If you run a small business, government offers a great opportunity for new income streams and more certainty that you will actually be paid when your work is complete. The response to this blog has proved our premise that more and more vendors consider government as a smart way to generate business.

Government still needs to do much to make working for them more straightforward and fair and we will push them to do this.

2009 is a going to be an exciting year for PublicSpend.

Over the last few months our team has been working hard designing and building our new product. I have personally spoken with several hundred local vendors who provide contract services to government across a number of different industries to get input on our plans and listen to their needs. As a result we are confident that we are building a service that will provide these vendors with:

  • A great platform to market themselves and their qualifications; and
  • Tools to help them be more effective in winning new business with both the public and private sector.

So I am really excited about what 2009 holds in store and the potential the product will have on the local service vendor community.

Thank you for visiting this blog, reading and commenting. I’m looking forward to writing many more posts in 2009 to help vendors be successful in their government bidding activities. I’ll also make sure to continue to push on some of my key philosophies, particularly that government needs to be open and transparent and provide electronic access points to its data. Until then, Happy New Year!
